About Chris Wright
Melbourne musician Chris Wright discovered his passion for sound at an early age. A versatile multi-instrument, he plays the saxophone and trombone, performing regularly in Melbourne under his own name, as well as with the 40-piece Monash Concert Band on tenor sax and the Croydon Concert Band on baritone sax.
You can often find Chris busking on the streets of Melbourne, sax in hand, where he loves to perform jazz and covers that captivate audiences.
In 2021, he received a mentorship grant from Arts Access Victoria’s Music Makers, allowing him to further explore his practice. In 2022, he was awarded 'Best Jazz Player' at the Kilmore Regional Busking Championship, and in 2024, he was recognized as a runner up in the same event. Additionally, Chris participated in the next heat of the Australian National Busking Championships in Cooma, NSW, on April 27 2024, and has been given the exciting opportunity to perform at the Arts Centre in 2026 for a production called Neurovision.
With a passion for the stage, he has previously acted with City of Voices and into the Light, and he recently completed his Diploma of Performance at Melbourne Polytechnic.
